US actress Mia Farrow was so enraged over the death of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe that she joined the online chorus of social media users venting their anger at the man who killed the animal.

But now, the 70-year-old United Nations Goodwill Ambassador is facing her own online backlash after reportedly tweeting the business address of US dentist Walter Palmer, who has admitted to killing the lion on a hunting trip earlier this month.

Farrow tweeted early on Thursday morning that she got a little “carried away” in her response to the lion’s death, which has turned Palmer into a target of international condemnation.

Earlier, she wrote: “CecilTheLion -Gentle protector of 6 cubs. Loved by many. Killed by Dentist Walter Palmer”, followed by the address of Palmer’s dental practice in Minnesota.

That tweet has since been deleted, but not before some people had taken screen grabs and accused her of acting irresponsibly.

Some apparently thought the actress had listed Palmer’s home address, and called for her verified Twitter account to be suspended under the site’s terms of service, the Associated Press reported.

A Twitter spokesman said the company did not refer to individual cases, but pointed to Twitter rules and policies that allowed wiggle room on disciplinary action when information was previously posted or displayed elsewhere on the internet before being put on Twitter.

The Farrow account deleted the original message amid questioning as to whether the intention was to ensure Palmer was physically tracked down. @MiaFarrow seriously?
